My story
Marjoleine, cartoonist and (future) filmmaker...
Welcome to Marjoleine's website!
Me,Marjoleine, my real name is Marjolaine Bouthillier, am a young amateur artist in the field of comics and cartoons, born in Rennes on May 23, 1994 in Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine, Gallésante Brittany, metropolitan France), from a Quebec father (Robert Bouthillier, great man of the musical and sung oral tradition, born in Chicoutimi (city recently annexed by the municipality of Saguenay, Quebec, Canada) on March 12, 1952) and a French provincial mother (Isabelle Chartrain, born in Blois (Loir-et- Cher), May 20, 1958).
In my stylized and mixed line between themanga(and its Korean equivalentmanhwa) and theFrench-speaking comic strip("Franco-Belgian" in general), I seek through my careerto link the drawing with either the sound or the textto try totake the spirits out of the infantilized AND stupid image granted to the Cartoon Arts and the Ninth Art. Therefore I would not hesitate to eroticize my work (without perverting anything!) and to incorporate some real or fictitious political message more explicitly to show myself fervent to all my values. All this under my expressive and childish line (which is not really synonymous with "childish") which could always evolve towards more realism or more expressionism.
Because know that it is a good thing to seek, voluntarily or not, originality (including the cross between soft graphic style and script that can be robust or even heavy)!
But also, I don't hesitate to introduce a little supernatural and magic, even in realistic series...
My work, inspiration level, is nurtured by manga (including the fantastic universe ofpokemon, created and refined (maintaining nine generations) by the Japanese Satoshi Tajiri since 1995-96 and published by Nintendo and Pokemon (Game) Freak) Company, with the complementary and rather positive discovery of the manga saga universesZelda(in video game form such as album adaptations or even manga series, by Shigeru Miyamoto, Takashi Tezuka and Nintendo, since 1986. And Ladies "Akira Himekawa" for the manga versions) and the river seriesOne Piece(Eiichirô Oda, since 1997. Rather in its cartoon series version in the original subtitled version) and to the Belgian comic series (Spirou & Fantasio, Gaston Lagaffe, The Blue Tunics and others...). This component, calledfan art, constitutes the part of my work reserved for web distribution (between theEnglish and international site DeviantArtand my personal site) and not to that of the printed albums (because, instead of characters that would be my own, I only resume AND personalize already existing characters, out of prudence and awareness of copyright)). The same is also true for the universes ofvideo game hero Rayman(the man without arms or legs created by Frenchman Michel Ancel since 1995 and published by Ubisoft Entertainment),Shantae(the sensual and magical girl with long purple hair tied half genius created in 2002 by the Americans Matt & Erin Bozon WayForwards) andSpyro the Dragon(created in 1998 by American Onk Beakman and currently published by Activision, having been published and developed by Sony and Insomniac Games for its initial trilogy)...
